MPH, Harvard School of Public Health, 2005 Dr. Green is an internist, educator, and researcher who focuses on understanding and eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in care. He seeks to elucidate root causes of disparities and to identify systemic and provider-based interventions to eliminate them. As Associate Director of the Disparities Solutions Center, Dr. Green takes an action-oriented approach to disparities in care, influencing clinical practice through teaching, speaking, and publishing.
Before joining MIHP in 2005, Dr. Green was a Fellow in The National Health Service Corps in Queens, New York, and served as Associate Director, Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency, New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Medical Collage at Cornell University. At Harvard Medical School, he is Chair of the Cross-Cultural Care Committee and an active teacher. He was lead medical consultant for the documentary film Worlds Apart, which aims to teach health professionals to better care for patients across cultural divides.
Dr. Green’s research interests include understanding sociocultural barriers to care, the use of patient navigator programs to improve colorectal cancer screening and diabetes care for linguistic minority patients, and the effects of unconscious biases on physician decision-making. He has led and collaborated on grants from the National Institutes of Health and The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, among others. Dr. Green has authored numerous articles on cross-cultural education and culturally competent health care systems. He has served on various committees and advisory boards nationwide, including the Joint Commission’s project “Hospitals, Language, and Culture.”
