In May 2009, Kathleen Jennison Goonan, MD, Director of the MIHP’s Center for Performance Excellence (CPE), and two CPE colleagues — Joseph Muzikowski and Patricia K. Stolz, published their book, Journey to Excellence:  How Baldrige Health Care Leaders Succeed.  Dr. Goonan served on the Panel of Judges for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award from 2000-2002.  Published by the American Society for Quality, Quality Press, the book tells the stories of nine Baldrige award winners from health care, using interviews and first hand accounts to describe their “journeys” and how they transformed their organizations and their performance. The book offers concrete recommendations to others who aspire to improve quality and overall performance using Baldrige as their strategic business roadmap.
